Re-purposing Draft 1

Before embarking on this project, I knew that the topic that I had chosen would be difficult for me to write about. Not only did I need to do up-to-date research to back up my claims, I needed to make them understandable for my peers. Soon after beginning to write this draft, I encountered one big hurdle. What seemed to be one thesis seemed to sprout into several different ones. While my main argument was that the sciences and the humanities were of equal value, I also wanted to tell my audience two other things: that the sciences and the humanities both benefit the individual personally and professionally, and everyone could benefit from studying a bit of each. I hoped to solidify my thesis in the next draft.

At that time, my biggest goal was to demonstrate how well I used evidence to back up my ideas. I read all of my sources, hyperlinked as many resources as I thought were necessary, and organized them in the article through an outline. Because of this, the draft only established the bare bones of the article.

I drew a lot of my revision of this draft from the feedback of my peers. If you are interested in the seeing their comments and my responses to them, click here. To look at the final draft and other drafts, click on the tabs on the right.
